Open for input. What would be a good grain drill for seeding and over seeding grass and alfalfa ?
had a B john deere ran the wheels off of it. Really ! like to find another one but not out there or they are shot!
Would consider any model .

I dont own a grass drill but the FSA folks here i rent from use sunflower brand drills ,and they have worked good for me . you may have to go with a heavier drill though if your alfalfa and stuff is pretty thick. might even have to go with a notill. you may check with your local fsa office, here they charge $5 a acre to rent one, and its cheaper for me to just rent one as i need it. they just bought a couple of no till drills this year and if i remember correctly from when i talked to them three or four weeks ago they will be renting for $8 a acre. that price could vary by areas though.

I'd go after another JD/Van Brunt. I've got a FB, but the fertilizer box was retrofitted to hold extra grain instead of fert. I can't think of any equipment that's so old and still so trouble free. Deere is still selling replacement parts for them too, but there are enough of them laying around that you usually don't need to go that far.

I paid $270 for the one I'm using now about 5 years ago. Then picked up another one with a broken hitch for $125 just in case I need the parts, but haven't needed anything yet.

Both of mine are 10ft drills. Nobody seems to want those. The 8ft version of the same drill are always high-priced though :)
