can my tractor pull a nh 575?

I am looking at upgrading my baler from a 316 to a 575 new holland. I bale with an oliver 1655. Its not my biggest but it is my favorite. Will I be able to pull the 575 with thrower and wagon? Some hills. It was about a perfect match for the 316, but the baler needs some work and the local baler guy is encouraging me to trade on a 575.

Don't see why it wouldn't. I used to pull a 275 with a thrower and wagon in hills with an 88 diesel.

As far as tractor goes, there won't be enough difference in baler weight, etc to matter. You will have more baler capacity should you choose to take advantage of it. I went from a 315 to a 570, and didn't notice any difference in handling, just more capacity.

Edit: I bale with my Ford 5610, and pull an 18' kicker rack. The 5610 has had the smoke screw twisted a little bit, so I'm guessing it would be similar to your 1655, and it does just fine!

I think you will be ok but you aren't going to work the baler with that tractor I don't think. I run a 326 which is the same capacity as the 575 just a series older and pull it with a ford 8210 (100hp), If i really push the baler I can make the tractor talk. I don't think you will find handling the 575 all that much different than the 316. A 316 is a pretty good capacity baler to start with.

The problem I find with my 326 is it will eat hay fast enough to pop bales that only have like 6 strokes in them which leads to irregular bale length. But that extra capacity is nice when rain is headed towards you.

BTW "pulling a wagon" has many different meanings, some guys I know only put 115 bales to a wagon. We try to run wagons that hold atleast 150 bales some are 175 bales kicked on.

You'll be fine, especially if baling at feedrates to make nice looking bales. A 1655 is a fairly heavy tractor, the 575 doesn't use all that much hp unless you are absolutely ramming the hay through it with big fat flakes.

You won't have any trouble. I ran a JD 336 kicker and wagon with a Super 88 and an 880 for thirty years on hills with no problem. That was with 16 ft. wagons, 115-130 bales a load. Currently I use a 1655 diesel to run a JD 346 and the wagons are two 16 ft and two 18 ft(150 bales kicked in). I still feel like the 1655 is overkill. LOL.
