1135 Massey Ferguson

looking to buy a 1974 1135 massey fergusion tractor. It has 4500 hrs, cab with no a/c or heat. 6cyl diesel. Does anyone have an opinion (good or bad)on this tractor? They are asking $5000 for it. Seems to run good. Is this a good deal?
 
I've put 20 hours on one already this week pulling a 24ft field cultivator and sowing wheat. Good tractor, and that sounds like a good price if the tractor is straight and the tires aren't shot. The 354 perkins is a good motor, I farm with 2 MF's 1105 and 1135 powered by that motor, the 1105 has 6800 hours and the 1135 is at 4400 on an overhaul.
 
I suppose a lot depends on your location or what part of the climate you are in but here in this part of the country a CAB tractor witho heat & air is just something that will not sell. Only place that tractor would go here is the salvage row at somewhere around 2500 hyundred to 3 grand depending on the rear rubber. Nothig wrong with the 1135 just the cab thing. Sounds high to me.
 
Should have mentioned, my opinion included the no air, neither one of mine have air but both are cabbed. Those tractors have big cabs and good air flow on all but the hottest days, granted I would like to have air June-August. "here" you can't touch a 100+hp tractor in decent shape under $15K unless it's a MF or AC.
 
An 1135 is as good as any tractor gets from that era. Here in the northeast $5000 with only 4500 hrs wood be a good buy.
 
Not a bad price if everything works properly. The 6-354 engine is arguably about the best engine ever made and real easy on fuel.
 
I guess it is the area. Here they would only bring 4-5k. There was a dealer here in town that sold quite a few MF 1135. They sure kept his shop busy. I don't know if it was the hills or what but the rear ends and transmissions where always giving problems here. The Perkins inline 6 motor was fine.
