I buy books occasionally on Amazon, and that's something I've never been able to figure out. They'll have a bunch available for, say, 5 bucks plus $2.99 shipping (of course Amazon will have it for 7.99, with free shipping. Woohoo!). Then a few more a little higher, and so on, but at the end of the list, there will be several for outrageous prices- several hundred dollars, and they're no different than the others. In your case, it happens that the outrageous one is the only one available.

What's the point of putting something on Amazon for a price that surely nobody will pay? What am I missing here?

I know what you mean Mike.

I don't think they really want to sell it or they're looking for a sucker!!

Someone the other day was talking about online sales tax, and Mass revenue asked amazon to charge us a sales tax...even tho there are no amazon depots in Mass...so, now there is a state wide campaign to avoid Amazon... we don't need to do business with multinational backstabbers, enough of them out there already. Even tho I think the issue died on the table, it ain't right, and need to send them and all mail order/online shops a message.

Very possibly was trying to put in $99.99 and forgot the point and systen automaticaly thinking it was $9,999 added a point that added the last to 0's for $9,999.00. I think a hundred would be high but have not bought books for years, even the $50 I would think was high.
