Grandpa's Tractor

Here are a few pictures of my 1937 Massey-Harris Challenger. The first one was taken at the Deer Creek Sodbusters show in August of 1992, and shows me on the seat and my grandpa in front. My Dad and I had just restored the tractor that summer, and when Grandpa seen it he said that I should just keep it. Man, did I feel ten feet tall! The next one was taken at the same show in 2012, and shows myself and my family. As you can tell, the tractor is showing its twenty year old restoration, but it is one that will never be sold. BT

Are those the correct steel wheels?
I think it looks nicer on steel!
Other than the dark stain on the under-belly she still looks good!
There must be something that will remove that without damaging the paint.
I think Grandpa would approve!

Yes, Brian those are the correct wheels for the tractor. As you can see in the first pic, the original tires were pretty sad but held air until four years ago when they let loose. I was able to purchase the steel wheels cheaper than I could replace the rubber and I don't have to worry about dry rot! BT

Love the "tip-toe" steel wheels- and I agree, just scrub the oil stain with a little Dawn detergent and water, and it will look fine.

And a fine looking family as well.

If I were your Grandfather I would be proud of both the tractor and your family.
Very nice!

Very nice pictures, history and family! Where abouts are you from? I live in Omaha, have my Grandpas 1950 WD parked in the alley in the middle of town!

BT in NE,
Really neat old tractor - have never seen one. I like it with the rear steel.
Nice family photo too.

Great pics. It's nice to hang onto an old member of the family. I've got a '36 Challenger, unrestored, but it runs well. Unique machines.
