o/t Some pictures from Scotland

Spent a few days away last week with my wife on holiday. We were staying at Inverness and did a little walking although the weather was poor some of the time. The picture with the tree and my wife was showing one of a number of Douglas Fir planted around 1860, I"ve never seen this large before in Scotland. Couple of highland cattle was all I could find for those who like livestock. The house looks as if its one of only a few sole survivors of this low level and very basic construction. Hope you enjoy these.

Thanks - That last picture looks like a house I saw when I was over there near Avimore? Just south of Inverness.

Ha, ha, ha, it took an Oregonion to give you guys a big tree We have lots of those around here, I cut $10,000 off of my hill last spring.

Great. Love the scenery and the cattle.

Probably still have some family members there, but no one in the family has any contacts there. Last names would be Potter or Pyle.

We flew into Prestwick on occassion back in the early to mid 1960s. Toured Kilmarnic,Edinbough,Troon. If you are Scotish Bill, I want to thank you and your countrymen for being so kind to a bunch of young yanks--You live in an absolutely beautiful country !

I hope this stays up: this is THE BEST web site for anything about Scotland. I "get lost" in this website for hours at a time.

I see you have a yeah or nay coming up shortly. what is the opinion out there. This time there is no army.
Always enjoy the photographs.

My GG mother came to Australia from Wick right after she got married, I suggest it might have been around about the time of the potatoe famine or when the crofters got shafted, however things weren"t good there.

Scotland is beautiful. Was stationed in Dunoon for 2 years. Used to love hopping on the cycle and just cruising the countryside.

The Jeep belongs to my brother who is no longer able to drive it (he's wheelchair much of the time). He has very kindly offered it to me and my sons, we live 600 miles apart but I am going to go get him and support him on a visit back to Scotland to see parents and friends on his 50th birthday. I guess the Jeep will make its way up to Scotland fairly soon, we are thinking of converting it to LPG due to heavy cost of petrol (LPG is about half price).
