This is at Vancouver’s Vanier Park across from Sunset Beach. Burrard bridge is on the right and Kitsilano Beach which cannot be seen, would be around the bend on the left.

Ray Bethell, a resident of Vancouver, BC is one of the most famous kite-flyers in the world. He
controls three kites in a ballet set to "The Flower Duet".....
Kite Dancing

When I was kid I would buy one of those two bit kites and put it up for hours. The winds in the spring were great for flying kites. To bad we didn't have these new fancy ones.

Walt,
Back in the 40s and 50s we used to make our own kites using basswood strips and grocery paper with pieces of sheet tied to the tail.
Spring seemed the best time and we liked to fly them on Easter day if the weather was right.
Didn't take much to keep us poor kids amused back in those days! LOL
