Can anyone recommend a good site?

I'm in the process of putting an approximate dollar value on much of my equipment. I would like to check a couple reliable sites to see what the approx. value of my 79' JD 310A backhoe is.
Thanks

Your best bet is to see what they are going for in say a 100 miles area of you.

I don't recall the exact name but... At your local 7-11 or Sheetz etc. they usually always have the racks of free Auto-Traders etc. and there's an issue that deals in tractors, big trucks and heavy equipment etc.

You might want to snag one up and see what's in there or even possibly list in it. But if nothing else there ought to be some sites to find within that rag?

Good luck!

Would depend on condition... but I think you'll find about 5K buys most of that stuff today.
ironplanet, tractorhouse, kijiji are all places to search and see what the asking prices are on that stuff. Just keep in mind that there can be, and often is... a wide range between the ask and the sale price. I guess if you want insurance value you go higher... if you want a real figure for tax or recoverable value... you'd go lower.

If you use tractorhouse you usually have to deduct about 30% of the asking price to get an actual market price.

Much depends on condition and if private sale or auction. I've seen many sell recently - seemingly good running at auction for $3800 to $5500.

I've got a Deere 300B that I got at local auction for $3300. Great running machine and not much different then your 310A. I'd expect to get $5000 if selling privately.

I use www.ironsearch.com.

Good luck-I have a good JD 400 backhoe listed for $6000 and haven't had a call. You might get it sold for around $3500. It is not a sellers market.

Check out Machinery Pete, he tracks auction prices. It's not free though. Machinery Pete is also on You Tube, he shows auctions there. I find it interesting, but not yet has it been useful to me.

Some one posted later about a construction equipment trade paper. I remembered the Rock and Dirt paper from years ago. What do you know?? They have a web site now. I just looked at it and it has a pretty good classified section. That maybe a better place to look for values.

Machinery trader or just google it and it's likely some used ones for sale will come up. You could also check on the Ritchie Bros. site to get an idea what they've sold for at auction.
