Here is a link from Farm Collector to a story about a historic farming village near Rockville, IN that is being auctioned off in parcels.

I think it is sad that it "went down the drain".

That is so sad.We are going through the same thing here.in our case an individual has been building a simmilar site his entire life.He passed away unexpectedly,the family is struggleing what to do....Then there is the IRS to deal with.

Never even thought about the tax aspect of it! That alone will kill anyone's desire to buy it.

Yep, it is sad. Awhile back I had posted those pics of a private farm showplace that had deteriorated for about 30 years. Husband hung out and worked at the show when he was in late teens. Was sad, yet morbidly fascinating to walk around and take photos the day prior to the auction.

In a case as this,most of the 'old iron' will go to scrap.Alot of the less collectable old stuff will just be destroyed/thrown away.So,So sad...

I live close to Billy Creek Village, it has provided many of the local schools field trips for decades now. I recall being there for my 4th grade field trip, that was 34 years ago.

How unfortunate. If anyone goes to the sale let us know what sells and for how much.

One gripe I have about some collectors is they wait entirely too long to sell out (or the heirs sell out) leaving just rusted junk that might have been saved had it been let go years earlier. I went to such a sale several months ago and it was sad to see the condition of most of the tractors that had been pulled out of the muddy lots or were sunk in the dirt barn and shed floors. Lots of parts tractors for those that needed them, but some folks commented even for that purpose they were going too high, so maybe there was value there I wasn't seeing although there was nothing particularly rare.
