fan belt removal

john deere 450-B crawler with loader, need to find out how remove fan belt. Pump drive on lower pulley has shaft in way.

my 350B has a lever along side the right frame rail that moves a yoke and shaft slides forward enough to get new belt thru...if you cant find that,the front pump has to come off to slide shaft out.

450B parts catalog reveals the same thing you referred to but I can't envision how to R&R fan belt with it intact.

our 350B you had to remove the hyd. pump

I never did a 350, but by the illustration it is similar to a 1010. Drop the belly pan, unbolt the pump and move it forward, you may have to unhook hoses from the pump, hydraulic oil WILL run down your arms. After that you should be able to wiggle the coupling out of the shift fork and get it out of the way. Worst case you will have to punch the pin out of the shifter and slide the shaft out of it. If you rally need it, I can scan something from the shop manual for the 350, but I don't have it right here.

Jim, part #5 slides back over #16 and leaves a gap between #4 & #5 ...its tight but belt will go thru.
my lever was broken off and the #9 shaft was frozen in the end supports...took some head scratchin to figure it out first time i broke a belt.

Cut belt off, buy a segmented belt from Harbor freight, put that on, retighten belt, you're done, with no hyd fluid on you!

Thanks for the explanation. I thought from viewing schematic(never saw this type hyd pump drive) that snap ring(#15) held spring(#6) & collar(#5) on splined shaft(#4) with smaller shaft(#16A/16B) inserted in #4. Does #5 when engaged mesh with #1 to drive pump?????
