Wow, that is one heck of a double rake. Tractor have any issues luggin' it? I assume this was a home-made invention?

I sure hope Lanse doesn't see this weld! Can't say much, looks like some of my better work! Hey, if it holds (which it appears to be) then who really cares!

The 'Ole Super'(M)has no problems pulling-
just'plays'with it.The H would probably pull
it,it(H) just doesn't have enough hydralics.Yes it
is 'homemade',out of scrap from the bonepile.Made it
about 2 weeks ago...

Yep,looks like $h!+.7018x1/8" rod.125 DC amps-too hot.I cant see well enough!Got 'new' bi-focals-Hate em!!!Cant see for $h!+!!!

I have small fields, some as small as 1 acre.No problems.Possibly even easier than a single...If I need to rake a 'single',I just swing the 'extra' out of the way.

Love the rig!
I fab a lot of stuff around here too, and I have trouble seeing through my helmet.
Specially outside in the sunlight. Even when I use the auto-darkening/adjustable one.
I'll let ya know if I find a good solution.

You sure saving time and fuel that's the main thing. Every time I scrap something I keep anything that may be used again. Saves me a lot of trips to the metal yard. stan

I used to weld 'professionally'.I have both auto
dark and a fixed shade.I just cant see anymore.Maybe
different glasses will help!Thinking about putting a
hood over my head to keep out the bright sunlight
from behind.

Rake looks good, saving yourself a lot of time over the field. I use an old towel over my head when welding outside, probably looks weird but atleast you can see what your doing.

I have a piece of blue jean on the back of my hood. Becareful I had a towel first and a spark set it on fire. HOT HEAD.

Steve , You have my mine working . About how long is your main beam ? I want to start keeping my eye open for parts .

Why are you using a trailer ball hitch instead of a pin hitch?

Tractor always has a ball on it?

Hitch was on the iron you used?

Just like them better?

Main beam is 17'(15' would probably work). It two shorter pieces spliced. One piece is 3x3,other is 3x4,front upright is 2x2.the main beam should probably have been 4x6.I need to 'truss' the frame a little,it's a little 'bouncy'.Like I said,I used what I had in the bonepile...

I have found a ball works better on a rake.the 'water marks/corrugates dont effect things as much. And,with a ball, you dont have a pin/other hitch 'parts' hanging down to catch hay.The tractor only 'wears' the ball while rakeing.
