I found the photo of the Plymouth tractor that Royse posted very interesting, so I Googled it. Interesting story behind it. Turns out that the company had built a line of "Plymouth" trucks early in the 20th century. Later they built Plymouth locomotives. After the depression locomotive sales were practically non-existant, so they looked for something to boost the company coffers. They designed and built a lightweight farm tractor, painted it silver because they already painted other products silver, and offered it under the Plymouth name. However, by this time The Chrysler Corp. was using the Plymouth name and sued. Although Chrysler was forced to buy the rights to the name, it left the company without a name for its tractor. So after a little head scratching, they named their little silver tractor------SILVER KING! I'm sure many of you folks already knew this, but I didn't, so I thought I would pass it along.
