maybe I'll get to live a little longer.....

I believe that life (death) is a number game and gonna happen sooner or later at just the right time (not decided by you or your family)..... That being said, there's no reason to stack the deck against yourself....... Been healthy, quit smoking 12 years ago, just have a few beers now and then and SWMBO feeds me right. Still can't remember cholesterol being below 250 since I first had it checked 30 years ago....... Just came back from the drug store where they checked BP, heartbeat, lung capacity and cholesterol (sugar if you ask for it)...
All good and cholesterol was 193...... Guess I'll keep takin the pills and live with a little discomfort in the joints.....

(quoted from post at 07:03:33 10/11/12) Congrats on a good checkup. Now you will have more
time to practice "people skills".....

Thanks.... People skills are what makes some folks unhealthy to begin with....... Much easier to just come out and say what you feel and handle a situation straight out than to beat around the bush and pamper someones feelings at the cost of your own health (stress).

dave,
Totally agree.
If people would just tell the plain truth we all would be better off.
I would rather have a person tell me flat out I'm wrong and why.
Have lots of ideas most people don't agree with. Instead of a intelligent response they say some white polite lie and go on there way. Most likely say to themselves, "what a DH or AH".
Wouldn't it be better they just say so?
Then I would not bother them again with my ideas or asking them to work for me.

One way to avoid stress related illness...Just be of simple mind who doesn't care about ANYTHING. Not my style...There are things I care about deeply

Another way to avoid stress is to ignore those people and those situations that you cannot change. It took me about 50 years before that sunk in.

Worry causes stress. Stress causes illness. Illness causes worry. Around and round we go.

Some of the suggestions my doctor had for me won't make me live any longer, but they dang sure will make it SEEM longer.

So...I eat what I want, but try to limit what I want to what is reasonable. I try not to worry about what I can't change, make the most of what I CAN change, and above all, quit concerning myself with what others think, other than my wife and kids/grandkids.

I was at deaths door when I was 19. I'm 65 now, on borrowed time the way I see it. If it all ends tomorrow, it's been a good ride.

Just try to be happy and enjoy what time you do have.

Mine was 219, the doctor said it was borderline and not to
worry about. A month later I had a massive heart attack.
Famous last words come to mind.

My numbers look good Cholesterrol 159. Except PSA is up to 5.1 They did a byops and we will see in a few days. Might just be riding a rough old tractor. At 68 they did say get my things in order within the next 30 years. Ha Ha

dave2, Dr. asked me what I do with stress in my job. Told him I don"t keep it, I give it away. He looked funny and asked "how that was?" Every time I get behind some Floridiot on these mountain roads, I scream at them out the open window and give them the stress.
