Just venting and long

Yesterday I had to put my old friend Angus a 15 yr old tom down. Not fun. Because he wasn't up to date on his shots, that had to be done before the hard part it cost pennies shy of 300 dollars. I was told "Our Lawyers did this for your protection" I wasn't the one getting the shot. Two weeks ago I had a nail in my truck tire. Wallyworld would not fix it because the nail was 1 1/2 inch or so from the center line of the tire. They only do 1 inch either way. Laswyers again. I know that on this site there are some Attourny's and probably fine ones at that. I just would like to know when and how we gave them so much power over our lives. On TV there are 4 or 5 commercials a night stating "Did this happen to a loved one" call Mr. XYZ for a free consultation. I think the forefathers forsaw all this and introduced the second ammendent to protect us from them.
Just my thoughts

This country truly headed down the toilet the day that the American Bar Assn decided it was OK for Lawyers to advertize. We were all a whale of a lot better off when we were ignorant of the law.

I've had the same issues on occasion and simply tell them "I will get this done with or without you, do you want my business or lose all of it forever"

Sometimes it works calling their bluff.

I recently called direct TV to get a dish installed. I have an existing dish abandoned years ago up on the roof. Wiring is all complete and working.

Seems direct tv will no longer let technicians carry a ladder on their trucks. He wanted to put a post in the yard an staple wire about 50' exposed on the outside of the house, then into and across the attic to the existing dish location.

My home is a 1 story hip roof that has very little pitch. In other words very easy to get up on.

I ran him off.

saw a good one yesterday, seems you dont have to have one of those toyota cars with the bad accerlerator to sue toyota. even if you never had a problem you can sue them because theyve got bad press and it drives the used market down. you can sue them for what your car should have been worth vrs what it really is worth! like you say people are crazy these days.wonder if i can sue chevy because i sold a few of those old trucks with the side exploding fuel tanks in them?

You should be able to sue them for making their own stock worthless and then forcing you to buy all new stock for more than it's ever been worth since. That's if you were ever foolish enough to own GM stock.

Are you saying they had to give the cat shots before they would put it down? That don't make any sense and sounds like the vet was taking you for a ride. Unless I misunderstand.

It gets worse. Some "personal injury ambulance chasers" have been paying hospital staff members to leave business cards on bedside tables of accident victoms before they are even awake enough to read them.

Rick

It's not ever going to improve because most of the politicians are lawyers. John Edwards ALMOST became our president and he was a ambulance-chaser.

Must be a local law I had my Boarder Collie put down and they didn't say anything about the shots that didn't have.
My best was the big check I got for one of those class action law suits I put the check up on my wall to remind me of the 19 cents that I recieved.

Don"t know what"s worse - having to put one down or when one disappears.

My big old tom that was my barn cat is gone. He was always at the barn and always came running to see me when I was headed that way. Haven"t seen him since last Tuesday.

Checked with animal control, they don"t have him. He"s just gone.

Yep just about every time Gov. passes a new law we the people loose another freedom. The biggest problem with a lawyer is they can write up a contract today but in 10 years they change the language of how it should be written that to first contract is no long correct so they can then go to court and say hey the way it is worded makes it so you have no right to do what you have been doing for those 10 years

I get a kick outta when folks (that's my people skills term) use the "my attorney" line....... I always thought that honest folks look in the yellow pages and call one when needed and crooks "have" one.....

Bad as they are, lawyers are not always to blame. They make an easy scapegoat, though.

People blame lawyers for a lot of stuff they do just to make more money, like vaccinations for an old sick tomcat or throwing a tire away so you can sell a new one.

Sorry about your cat. But dam dude, you must have a tattoo on your forehead or something.. Kinda like the guy the other day that the bank tried to charge an extra fee cause the check wasn't 2 hours (?) old yet........ You're not just screwing yourself, but every other person that gets nabbed cause you let a crook slide....... You can bet your sweetass that felix just got injected with some of the most expensive saline solution in the world...
Next thing, someone'll be yellin cause walmart is chargin 50 cents a pound to put air in your tires.....

Sorry to hear about old tom. It never seams to get any easier when a animal has to be put down. You still have all the memories of your friend. Seams like a waste of money to give shots, that are not going to do any good. Stan

How about the Fire protection code? Written by NFPA of which the folks that make fire protection and fire fighting apparatus belong to and run. They write in their codes so that fire apparatus has an expiration date so after so many years the detector or sprinkler head or extinguisher or truck has to be replaced simply because they want to sell you a new one. Similar story with ASME and the elevator codes, you have to have a maintenance contract with a company that has licensed technicians, they don't have to come on your site or actually do anything it's just a requirement to have the contract for Lube & Inspect to keep your friggin permit.

Actually they let you keep sprinklers a long time, ones older than 1920 have to be replaced, and the first time you have to pull one and physically test it is at 50 years old then every 10 years after that until they fail the tests.
