to marinate a batch of white raisons!

Did the Spoon River Drive yesterday at about 40 - 50*. Knees and left hip hurt like heck this morning. Crawled into and out of a couple of excavations this afternoon and now my back is sore as well!

Starting to think getting older and cool weather don't mix so well.

Ah toughen up! I've been picking corn for a week. Up and down off the tractors, leaning over unloading wagons,a couple of asprin at night along with a lite beer and I'm surviving.

Been building fence the last few days, didn't realize how much harder it has become. Using neighbor's JD 1250 tractor (he owes me)- its a Yanmar, and about as unhandy a rig as I've ever seen- too high to get up and down from, foot platforms are too narrow to pivot your feet, shift levers prevent you from comfortably getting your foot over the center, two stage clutch instead of live PTO, etc., etc. I could probably design a more cumbersome loader, if I set my mind to it, but it would take awhile.

Yeah, I know, "You'd b!tch if you were hung with a new rope!" Just getting older, I guess. Rather be doing something less. . ."physical". Wife has been helping, and to her credit, has finally stopped trying to tell me how to do it. She just does what I tell her. She's in better shape than me, and is a big help. But still a lot of work, for older folks.

OH YOU THINK . I had to go and put a thermostat in a 806 today , not a big deal IF they don't have a turbo on them . A hour job turned into a four hour job. out in a open pole barn with the wind out of the north. Right hand is screaming at me letting me know that it is not happy with the cold . can't even twist the top off a barley pop with it had to get the channel loc's out .

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah:
You try workin in an office chair all week AND then play weekend warrior.
Only 58 and 3/4 but it's getting harder to do a lot of things!

HAHA,yea, you don't have to tell me. I'm just afraid my body won't be able to take the shock if I just up and quit though.

Spent Saturday with about 8 club members, including Dukester, repairing an old barn on our club property. Really surprised, I didn't feel too bad Sunday, after day on ladders, swinging a hammer and all that.

I'll be all of 28 on Friday this week. On Saturday I was trimming along the fence row with a chainsaw, bent over for the better part of 4 hours cutting close to the ground, and I'll admist my back and knees were sore the next day.

My knees were still sore from the last couple weeks though. Chopping corn and I was up & down the 1855 2-4 times per load, x 53 loads. I think 9 years of wrestling when I was younger didn't help that.

I put in 40 t posts last weekend. My shoulders and arms were useless for a couple of days. Now I understand why my folks always quit for the day when I had lots of energy left. They didn't!

quit yer whining. i'm 58 and still roofing and installing windows. anything involving an old tractor would be fun.don't get to play enough with the toys.

kruser, you must be referring to a home remedy that I have a recipe for. Last spring I got an ad in the mail from one of these home remedy gooroos wanting me to buy his book, and he included a recipe for an arthritis relief. Take white raisins and cover them with gin, let them sit uncovered until the liquid is gone, (which takes several days), and eat so many per day. Seems to help a little, and sure does make some good tasting raisins!

Shadetree,
The way Super 99 explained it to me was to soak them with raisons in plenty of rum.
Eat a spoonfull a day and you feel like a new man.
Worked for me last winter - and we had a mild winter.

PS: Did wean myself off with the heat and drought this summer!

Geez, Now I don"t feel so bad. Last month I fenced in 6.5 acres with wire rope and T-posts
96 of them plus braces at every corner (field is odd shaped with 12 corners and intermediate braces for runs over 16 posts. Took a week to get her all done. (course I used skid steer bucket to shove posts in the ground)
