Son has our winters wood up and working on my daughters 11.3/10 loggers cord. Son found this tag down in the cutting area and in all my years (35+) I have yet to ever see one. Thought maybe one of you fellows that logged for a living would know if it signifies timber area to be harvested? Tag is aluminum .Wonder if it's for the scaler? Thanks . Regards LOU.

Around here they use forestry spray paint for grading and scaling and for marking trees to be cut. It fades after a few years and disappears. Seems like that would have been from something that was meant to be more permanent, kind of reminds me of the numbers on telephone poles or something.

Son's father-in-law was a research forester for Weyerhauser Company- they used tags like that to mark the trees they had set out, so they could keep track of growth, etc.
