Sorry I didn't mean to holler.

The seed rate for the mix is good at 65-80 pounds per acre for a complete seed .If your just patching or overseeding you can cut that back. The K31 doesn't look bad at 250-300 pounds per acre and a lot of fertilizer..I know that sounds like a lot but you need to sow it thick so it doesn't clump.Bluegrass sod fields always went at 135-150 pounds per acre and 7 way Fescue at 160-185 per.Fields always got double sowed for good coverage.K31 rates are higher because of germination rates. One good thing about k31 is it will grow anywhere. The best turf seeds come from the Northwest and Canada.K31 seed is raised in several states all over the country.Rod made the statement about the back box.Brillion made a landscape special years ago with only a big box with the brush. That could be what your looking at.
Her's a link to Messicks.Good Luck.

Thanks CharlieN, I have area disked up and drug off the grass roots to one side of yard. Plan to let it sit for a month or so and disk again before winter seeding. Going to make a mix of many seeds and put about 150 pounds in 3/4 acre. Hope something grows next spring. Thanks again.

What's your idea of hydro-seeding? Better than the Brillion?

I know the son of our old local sod farmer who is no longer in the sod business but has the old seeders.

Thanks again.

George, in my experience (which is limited) you cannot beat a Brillion. Sounds like the one you are looking at has been well used. If the seed rate tags are missing I can email them to you. Just drop me line.

No disrespect takin George.I just like a Brillion. There is no comparison.Hydro seeding is a totally different animal. The only seeder that comes close is a Landpride and it's designed is basically a Brillion.

Charlie,
Thanks for letting me know that Brillion is the best way to go, that's what I'll use. I'll clean it up and see how it works. Been thinking of testing it out on a tarp or concrete drive to see that it working OK before using it.
Thanks again.
