Larry asked if I would remind everyone to please post any interesting tractor stories/pics regarding tractor brands starting with the letter "B" tonight. [He won't have computer access.]

Also remember, if you like this thread... tomorrow will be for tractor brands starting wiht "C". I'm guessing Larry will post a reminder about that tomorrow.

So after starting with 'A', you're going to skip all the Beautiful, Benevolent, Belarus, Beneficial models....and start with 'C'....cantankerous hard starting, contemptuous, confusing, confounding, before we get to d.....hey, yeah- works for me!

I did a bit of work a year or so ago on a Belruis (sp) it was not an easy tractor to work on and from what I could find it was a sort of poor designed machine at that

You pulled someone's picture from somewhere and got it wrong that is a Twin City tractor that resides on the grounds at Rollag, Mn. it is powered by a 6 cyl. engine. I have personally seen this tractor at Rollag and also at Wauseon, OH a couple of years ago when they had it hauled down there for their feature that year.

Friend of mine had a pair Belarus, some of the first ones imported to the US. He bought them used, dirt cheap. Definately crude and awkward to operate but they got the job done. We were young and desperate to farm back then. Wish I had that youthful enthusiasm (ignorance?) again.

I'm voting for the Baker, even though I can't fnd any connection between the Northern Ohio Bakers (Abner D Baker) and the Southern Ohio Bakers (Me) all I have been able to find out about Abner is his parent's came from Pennsylvana.

I have a friend who lives in Mantua, Ohio who is a genius fabricator. Included in his collection of restored tractors is one named a "Banting". It was manufactured in Toledo, Ohio back in the early 1900s.

I have a picture of it but my scanner will only produce .tiff files and this site will only allow .jpg and .gif files to be uploaded. So, I can't upload the picture, but it is really a fabulous old machine.

Sweetfeet.
Both of my little Fords are made up out of a lot of parts and pieces from other tractors with the wrong tin, wrong fenders, wrong engine, etc, etc.
So does B@stardized count?

Best. The Best tractors were kind of a "halftrack" design, with crawler tracks and a steerable nose wheel. You can find examples of them in the Heidrick Ag History Museum in Woodland, CA, just north of Sacramento. Best merged with Holt to form Caterpillar.

Heck, I almost forgot this! As someone asked, yes, I would consider a Bolens a tractor!

Here's a picture of my Bolens Ridemaster. They actually made a bunch of implements
for this "tractor" including a 4 row corn planter that mounted in between the
adjustable rear wheels.

I'm still working on the restoration.

Banting was really an Allis Chalmers E in disguise. Only the radiator header tank and paint was changed, Should be included with the "A's".

Royse,

That is a pretty cool looking critter. It almost reminds me of an old tricylce in looks... like somebody souped up a trike an made a garden tractor out of it. Neat.

Ultradog,

I believe it must! I guess they are B__ RatRods!
It is actually pretty cool looking, Ultradog.

Tom in TN,

If you have Microsoft Word, you can open a document.
Insert that photo into the document.
Then RIGHT click on the photo.
Select "Save picture as"...
Then on the screen where you type the file name in the box -- just look at the box directly below it & click on the down arrow for choices and you should be able to select JPEG from that list. [I believe it will keep your original file, but also save it as a JPEG so you can post it online.]
