The way it was.....and still is.........

This one might go poof, but this article was on the page opposite of the New Holland ad I just posted the pic of. It's not coming up as slear as I'd like, but if you increase the magnification to 150% it's readible with a little effort. Crystal clear in the pic or not it is a great read for anyone interested in history, and the thinking behind it is crystal clear at it's best. I wish there was some way to black out the dates and let those that read it come up with their own time for when it was written but there's not. So, just FYI the article was written for Farm and Ranch magazine in August of 1956, just over 56 years ago. All I can say, having read it, and knowing what has happened since, is "How sad but true the article was then, and even more so how sad and true it's even more relevant now than back then.....".

It's pretty much impossible to read. I loaded it into a graphics program to zoom in on it, but it's still too much work to read.

Try as I might,I can't read the artical but can emagine. Here's one written about 1966 that is also timeless. Search the web for"Paul Harvey If I were the devil". On the subject of the more things change, the more they stay the same. Wherther a person thinks the contents of the Bible are devine or simply just very old writings, everyone agrees it was written several centuries ago. If you read it as simply a historical account, you will quickly see that mankind was driven by greed for money and power over his neighbors, lust for what isn't his, decietful acts commited in order to sock-it-to others about as is the case today. So as I see it,humans have always known right from wrong and talked about how to make a better world but always find a way to justify thier own questionable actions if it farthurs thier cause.

Wow! I can read bits and pieces, maybe 50% of it but what I can read is very interesting. One sentance really caught my attention, we are mortgaged to the hilt. Sure wish I could read all of it, I would love to print it out and give it to my 89 year old dad to read.

NC Wayne,

Who is the author of the article? I can't quite make it out since it is in cursive.

Would love to read it, but unable to...just too blurry. Was going to google it to see if by chance I can find it online. Doubt it, but thought I would try.

Here's the first paragraph; it verifies what I've always thought.

The Federal Government had a $2 Billion dollar surplus during the fiscal year of 1956.
That’s the first time we’ve operated in the black since 1951. And it’s only the fourth time in 27 years that we’ve spent less than we took in. The nnalert are real proud of this and will be bragging about it between now and the elections. And it is good. But it’s not nearly good enough. It’s just swatting mosquitoes instead of draining their swamp. Furthermore, the last $20 billion debt was added by the nnalert.

You only scanned it or uploaded it at 375 pixels width. Re-scan & don't let tractorshed (settins for this) re-size it....this time, use 900 pixels width.

snopes.com: Who Increased the Debt?www.snopes.com/politics/politicians/nationaldebt.asp

Interesting Ryan was criticising incumbent for the increase, compare with the one before.

Don't let the percentages get you!!! Reagan increase was shown as about 2,000billion (284%) and BO at 4,000billion (twice Reagan) but only 34%.

I scanned it in as a picture to get the best quality possible so I thought it would turn out better. How do you keep it from resizing when you post?

don't think that you can with tractorshed, but you can with PhotoBucket that I use. If you don't wish to use/learn to use PB, then e-mail it to me as larger image & I'll put it in PB & re-post larger. My e-mail is open in modern view. If the YT e-mail won't let you send pictures, just send message & I can capture your e-mail & then we contact each other directly.
