Rented a farm last week and was there today fixing some fence when I stumbled upon this mower. The tool box lid is John Deere. Cast in the axle is Dain Mower. It appears the mower is complete minus the tongue. Guessing maybe a 4' cut. Anybody have any idea how old this mower is?

I am guessing before 1934. Think I might have printed out a parts list off the Deere site before they eliminated many of the older machines. I just do not know where it is. I think I also printed of the one for the Deere-Dain rake that I have but again where is it? I do know that Dain rake was in 1922 advertisements and in 1934 Deere replaced it with their own rake made simular. Just rebuilt a 34-35 model and have a 36 model to do and they will be going to the Amish for use.

I posted the same thread on the John Deere forum, smoothdeere thinks these mowers were made 1912-22. He posted a pic of a restored one there.
