Kubota ignition switch update

A few days ago I posted about my skid steer not starting and asked if anyone else had problems with a Kubota. My friends diagnosis was correct. Put in a new ignition switch and everything works as is should and it turns over on the first try. A $40 repair isn't too bad considering it was an electrical problem.

I had a problem with the switch on my Thunderbird sticking on many years ago. I took it to the dealer and told them to replace the ignition switch. The service manager called me and said that there was nothing wrong with the switch. I told him to change it anyway and never had any further problem with it.

Like we told you last time, its not a Kubota ignition switch unless you own one of the brand new Kubota skidsteers they just started selling. Glad to here the fix worked. Had to replace the neighbour case/ih switch this summer, it would leave the fuel solenoid closed while cranking, so you had to catch it just right when letting off cranking.

Funny, they looked it up in the Thomas parts book and handed me a Kubota box with the identical switch to the old one. I'm sure Kubota's can be purchased bare or with a variety of different electrical configurations to suit the customer. Why do you insist it's not a Kubota switch? Thomas doesn't make their own ignition switches.

I'm guessing he says it's not a Kubota switch because Kubota doesn't likely make it. Chances are Denso or another simliar company makes it.

kubota wouldn't make the switch in their new skid steers either. I was just saying that the switch is sourced from Kubota the same as the engine.

Stick welding: what size of Thomas do you have?? There where several sold here in North-east Iowa about 15 years ago. Thomas set up several dealers around here. They usually got a 133 and a 172. None of them sell them anymore. The exchange rate killed selling many of them around here.

A good friend has a 172. It has the Kubota 60 horse power motor in it. It is a pretty good skid steer. The only down side to his is he bought it right about the time the new mounting became a standard. So his has a Thomas mounting system.
