Anyone know what will disolve gasoline turned to dry varnish in an aluminum tank? Tank is in an airplane and cannot be removed. Thanks for any help. doorman

My BIL once told me that paint-stripper and water mix will cut oldgas varnish.I have never tried that trick....

M E K will do it but make sure no seals are involved.

Running Auto Gas instead of 100 octane Avgas and letting it set usally will cause this. If a Carb is involved be extremly careful with the MEK.

Fresh gasoline will be the best.

MEK or acetone, is there away to get your hand in the tank or remove a bulkhead to scrub with a brush. I wouldn"t use anything metal or use stripper due to removing the clad off of the metal and having bare aluminum. I have pressure washed L1011 and Boeing 737 tanks with hot water to cleaned dried up algae.
