synthetic fluid

Has anyone put synthetic fluid in a Dodge automatic transmission? If so what were the results? Think the old Cummins is starting to strain the tranny. Thanks in advance.

Best I can tell Mopar +4 is at least syn blend. I had an '05 and it said +3 and the 07 said +4. I was curious and looking around I found one of the major brands of oil that was recommended for Dodge among others and It said on the container that it was either syn or blend so I assumed the +4 was just that. Recalling more, I think the practice of draining fluid under normal service was removed from the manual as was my '11 Chev which I know uses syn. Also they started using it in the differentials also.

About time Detroit came into the real world.

Soooo If it doesn't specify only one tranny, then like a lot of things it will back fit.

Doesn't matter what you put in a Dodge automatic tranny. If it hasn't died yet it will soon.

What year is it?

The MOPAR ATF+4 is synthetic. if its older it may have the +3 which i don't believe was or was a blend. Its worth changing the fluid and filter before seeing if anything major is wrong.

AMSOIL ATF is a good full synthetic substitute and can handle the heat if you tow a lot.

Not so! They carry a 100k 5 yr warranty even with the new
Cummins Diesel in front. I had half a dozen of them and never
had the first tranny problem, from '84 thru '07. Actually, had
less mechanical problems with them than any truck I ever had. I
bought Chevy this time just because they are the closest dealer
and after the feds worked GM over, they are putting out a real
nice and reliable truck. Had mine a year and a half now and
never been back to the dealer......other than to stop by one day
when I was in town to tell him how much I liked it.
