My BIL and nephew have a 347 and love it. I baled alittle with it this year too. Works well. Did a lot of baling with a 24T years ago. I would not ne afraid of any JD baler as long as it has been taken care of.

My understanding is they are pretty much the same but the 347 will have a wider pickup head and might have a multilube system (they didn't all but a lot of the ones I've seen do).

I have a 336 and like it, but a wider pickup would be nice about half the time.

Go as new as you can afford... or at least as less worn as you can afford. The 347 I believe is the newer of the pair.
Funny thing about Deere's tho... it'll probably strike you funny how much it's like the 24T under the tin...

The knotter systems have been changed very little from the beginning to present. Main upgrades have been installing brgs on PH instead of pads/blocks.

That was exactly my point... Deere has made precious few changes to their balers over the years.
The same can be said for their PT forage harvesters as well other than the change in cutterhead and feeder ~30 years ago.
