What is a good wheel rake for corn stalks? The old one has seen it's better days. We pull it behind an eight row stalk chopper and it gets some adverse condition sometimes. Would like a 12 wheel one. Harold

i use a 33 mf corn head, and a 5 wheel 3pt hitch rake , makin double windrows ,, bale them up with a 846nh chain baler ,, side delivery rakes do a poor job inm corn stalks , and i think a v rake would do as well as a 3pt rake if you canadjust the pitch for best raking

Dad has a 16 wheel H&S v rake. This brand is popular in our area. Well built, simple and does a good job on hay or corn stalks. We have used 9 wheel side rakes, the v rakes just work so much better because they won't slide sideways in heavy material. We made the plastic wheel inserts out of that white material used in milk barns, it really helps on windy days.

You hit on two of my dislikes....moving away from the foilage, and having it stick to the wheels on windy days. So I have both wheel and bar and use as required
