Took a trip yesterday to visit SWMBO's grandmother in SE Germany. About 200 miles there. Everything is dry and brown in this area. After about 60 miles into the trip, things were progressively greener and livelier. Even had a couple showers nearby on the way. Coming back, it was dry as a bone on the autobahn in our direction and it was raining so hard that traffic was slowed way down in the opposite lanes (20-30 ft away). Always see interesting stuff on those trips. Couple of truckloads of old tractors/equipment heading east (usually means fixed and back in service in a poorer area), Couple where the complete load was a bucket for an earth mover (loader?).... And always a couple of accidents.... Nothing serious this time but eyeopeners....

(quoted from post at 00:09:31 09/11/12) Glad ya had a safe trip!! Grand ma still spry enough for some of that good old German cooking ?
She's 88 , we always go to a guesthouse (restaurant), but she's good forb cake, cookies, and a beer and schnaps afterwards

Visited with some decent family and came home.... Wife's birth mother couldn't make it this time which made the trip MUCH better. Such a strain on my people skills when I see that woman and her husband.... Grandmother is the "mother" that we recognize, other one dropped out in the first year and came back about 16 years ago.......
