Over the course of many yrs. here on YTMAG many of us have shared both sorrow and joy with our internet friends. On my part many have seen posts of my sons growing up, getting their Eagle Scout ranks and now service to their country.

Today I am proud Dad of a new Devil Dog. My youngest son just graduated USMC Boot Camp from Parris Is. The transformation is great to see.

He is home for a few days then off for advanced combat training then off to 29 Palms for Communications training.

Thanks for letting me share this joy with you my friends.

Shep...Congrats to you and your son! Thank him for his service and you stand tall and proud! Keep us in the loop on his postings and duty stations!

BTW... Neat Tshirt...

Ain't it nice of the peddlers around military areas to have 2 versions of the shirts on hand???
The ones for the proud new marine that shows off the big shoulders and slim waist, and the "other" ones......

Great! Tell him thanks for serving from another Vet. I worked with some Marines at Ft Knox teaching Armor Tactics to new Lt's. One of the Marine NCO's told me you can't call a Marine a jar head anymore.....said that yer supposed to call em pin heads......said you can put something in a jar.

Yeah, went through Armor Officer Basic with Marines..

They we were 3 Marines and my self in one tank, with the AI sitting on the top.

When it was my turn to be TC, I said on the intercom, On to Berlin!

They sure loved PT!... Real Good guys..

Congratulations!

I attended my Grandson's graduation one year ago next month. He's now in Okinawa and just made Lance Corporal.

The change is nothing short of amazing, and I don't mind telling you that tears were shed when I shook his hand at graduation.

ShepFL,

Tell him congratulations and thank him for serving our country. You have every reason to be proud!

Our son is enlisted in the Marines and will ship out next year after graduating high school.

Shep, congratulations to you and your son and a special thanks to your son for serving our country. It is MEN like your son that protect our freedom that we all enjoy. chuck

I know you're proud, I finished basic training 59 years ago in August 1953. I ended up at Ft Bragg NC and my wife joined me. Hal

You should be proud. Even if he is a Marine. Glad he made it through Boot Camp. His life is now changed forever. Tell him thanks for me an old Navy vet.

Sweetfeet, My youngest is a senior this year and ships out after graduation as well. Ships out June 4 for MCRD San Diego, Good luck to your son, mine is looking forward to it. He follows in his Grandfather and uncle as Marines, and has been in JROTC for 4yrs here in HS.

(quoted from post at 08:18:03 08/26/12) As one proud marine dad to another I can tell you the transformation is not only great to see; he will carry these values for life.
You have every right to be very proud of him.
Tell him thanks from all of us for his service.
