steel carport

how many of you have installed a steel carport for storing tractors. thinking of putting up an 18x21 7ft tall. Any brand better than another ie.. carolina carport, american steel

i have 3 one on slab 2 gravel no problems so far .. may depend on location

You might want to go a little wider. I have three Ford 8N's sitting side by side in a 21 wide and it's a tight squeeze walking by them.

I went to carports.com, and ordered 3 two yrs ago. I ordered a few feet taller ones, and 20x21'. I dug trenches at20 ft centers, poured 1ft x 2ft tall concrete runners, and let them install them on that. I have plenty of room to put 2 tractors in each bay, but if you have duels then your mileage may varrie. They hooked the roofs togeather with one sheet of metal, so rain doesn't run in between them, and gives me 3 bays, with end walls down to the concrete runners. I took measurements and went to the local truss builders, and they made me 6 door frames, which I hung on posts, and enclosed the side to the prevailing weather, and left the other side open. I can open one or two doors on the west side and drive thru a bay. It sure was nice in the rainy winters here in Wa. (Gravel floors)

I believe ours came from carports also. We use ours for a horse run-in. Threw some slab wood on 2 sides and been working great for 3 yrs now. Near Lake Ontario in NY here.

I have several and they do fine for me,but I wouldn't go over 18ft wide which are the standard width.I didn't have any problem with them when we had 28" of snow but many that were wider went down.

Don't get the ones with the roofing running lengthwise as the water comes in at the seams. I see them now with the sheets going up and down the roof slope.

All of mine have the roof running that way and they don't leak even with the snow melting the trick is to grade the pad so there is a slight slope front to back and don't put the trim on the back so the water flows freely off the roof
