How to value a tractor

I have found an antique tractor at an auction. I am looking for a place to find an approximate value. I have found a little help on this site, but I would like to see some more prices. I know a tractor from the 30"s may be tough to get sale information on, but there has to be some more places for me to look. Thanks for the help.

There isnt any info on what that tractor could bring it all depends on who is bidding and how bad they want it you can look all year and never find out just what that one will bring any where from 500-?????? If you want it bid you wont know until that day after its sold.

If it is more or less a common tractor, such as a Farmall or John Deere, then condition, condition, condition is what it's all about. A non-running, stuck engine, rotten tires, etc. example should bring no more than $500, and probably less. The opposite would be a well preserved original, or very well restored, with excellent tires, excellent paint, correct decals, starts easily and runs like a top, could go as high as maybe $3,500 and beyond.

A less common tractor such as MM, Massey, Oliver, J.I. Case, etc. could easily fetch more money on either end of the scale, and if the tractor is a truly unique orphan make, all bets are off.

very first thing,
#1- need to know year , model and make.
#2- there is no set price on auctions.
#3- all depends on the guy bidding against you.
#4- you have a limit.
for example i have seen a 1938 w-14 mccormick go for 4500.00. in original condition but not running, tires all shot, hole rusted in fuel tank motor seized, and just the usual stuff from a tractor sitting in the weeds for 40-50 yrs. then if it was a w-30 i have seen them go for as little as 200-300.00 it all depends on the tractor and how bad the next guy wants it. you have given next to nothing for info.

I posted it on the case page and I really only got one good comment that really didnt help. I know there are not that many being sold every day.

The tractor is a 1935 case L. Ran 12 yrs ago, under the paint she looks pretty good. I'm just looking for a ballpark figure, I know you can never tell at an auction. This years crop has set the limit pretty low already!

i would say in the ball park of 700.00 to 1800.00. but ur right never can tell at an auction.

I bought a super nice old original on full steel with no paint left on it for $1000.

I don't like cutoffs, so I personally discount those pretty heavily. Some folks don't mind them...

I've also given as little as $75 for a pretty complete L that was in pure fence-row/rough condition.

And seen them sell from $400 to $4000. Not sure why the high one brough so much... I'd agree with the $700-1800 ballpark...
