is this a virus????

had this thing pop up yesterday afternoon on my computer. it is a window that says reminder wednesday august 22nd 2012 easy internet sign up. this is a reminder to check the latest internet offers. would you like to view them now? then 3 choices, yes, no,please remind me again later, and please do not remind me any more.

i have not clicked on it, but ran a virus scan, and have re-booted several times and it keeps popping up.

Probably adware. Get the free "Superantispyware" and run it.

I agree. Probably AD-ware. There are lots of good anit-adware software available. Spy-bot search & destroy [http://www.safer-networking.org/], malwarebytes [http://www.malwarebytes.org/], ad-aware [http://www.lavasoft.com/]. I've personally used spybot and malwarebytes and can vouch for them. I've personally heard good things about ad-aware. Any of these should be able to help you with your issue.

We use malwarebytes and a-vira. I think both have a free version, but it only costs about $30 for the much, much better versions.

We haven't had any spyware, viruses or adware since we started using them two or three years ago.

I use Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. Both free, both work.

ran malware bytes and it seemed to take care of it!!!

It is called a "Fake Internet Popup. Download Malwarebytes Antimalware and restart your computer in the Safe Mode with Networking by punching the "F8" key at the Logo screen. Install the Malwarebytes and run a Quick Scan and it should find the virus and allow you to remove it.
