Replace motor mount on F250

I have A 1994 F 250 gas with 5 sp. standard trans. I need to replace the motor mounts. It may be A big job.

Do you know how high you have to jack up the motor to get the old one out, and put the new ones in ? Maybe 1/2 or 1 inch.

Would it be alright to put the jack along side the pan bolts, then one on the transmission.
I think the bolts on both mounts would have to be
loose to get each one out.

Thanks A lot

I think it is recommended to put a piece of something like 2x6 under the pan put the jack under that. You only have to raise it enough to clear the bolts or studs that fasten the mounts in. Just be careful with any and all fuel and water lines. Make sure there is enough slack to allow it to be raised or disconnect them. I had to pull the pan on an F150 6cyl and it was harder than the Haynes book indicated. I wound up with the transmission against the floor of the cab. Main thing is, be careful and don't get in a hurry. Some kind of manual is always a help. Good luck.

as others said , 2x6 under pan jack till you have clearance. There is no set amount . some come right out , some you need to jack up higher. May need to loosen fan shroud .

Hammer,
I have never worked on a F250 but
the last and only time I jacked up a motor with a 2x4 on the pan bolts was when the pan leaked after I did that!
Too much pressure in one small area and pan is going to leak.
Sounds better to use 2x6 on entire pan.
Other idea would be to remove hood and lift from top if motor has the lift hooks on it.

We use wood on the oil pan, use a good size piece, 2x6 etc.

MAKE SURE you have it blocked good. When you have your hand in where the mount is, you don't want it to slip off. If you are really pulling on a stuck bolt.
