Does anyone know what the torque specifications are on a farmall super C head gasket and rocker arm shaft. Thanks

Not totally sure, 65 & 35. Better get professional advice on torque. What I want to know, are your cylinder sleeve flush with the block?

If you get a service manual it will tell you and the correct sequence for tigethening them. You have to go in a certain pattern or it can warp. I can look in my manual but it is in the shop right now. If you need it right away, I can't get to it but after while I can.

email me and I can respond to you and try and copy the correct sequence for tightening them.

You would also need to recheck after you you run it and get them hot due to expansion.

Did you check your valves while you had it apart? Not a bad idea to have them ground and your head manifluxed to check for cracks while yo uhave it aprt.

Generally you start in the center of the head and criss-cross after each bolt.....but not always. That"s why you should have the svc manual for your tractor. Also tighten in several passes around the head, not all at once.

Not only did I do it in 4 steps, I retorqued 6 times to get them tight.

Also noticed my sleeves were about 10 thousands or more above the block. That's why I asked the question about the sleeves being flush. An old IH mechanic said it was normal for them not to be flush.

I would think they should be flush.

George, if they were flush, you could blow a head gasket. The gasket has to fit around the sleeve extended above block.

Thanks, but my head gasket fit over the raised sleeve. Perhaps that's why I had to re-torque 6 times and I did increase the torque to 75 lb-ft.
