The odd weather continues

Well here it is the middle of Aug. the hottest month of the year most years and it is 67 out and we have light rain which we need big time. This it more like Sept. or Oct type weather so maybe what is going on is the months are changing.
Also the weather guessers said rain yesterday and ya we got a mist for a hour or so but then no rain today and it is raining guess they can not guess well LOL

Ya,we had a high of 58 last Friday during that all day rain. It's warmed back up,supposed to be in the mid 80s again tomorrow, then another cold front. Highs around 70 Friday and Saturday.

Though way too late for the corn and early planted soybeans, central Indiana has had around 3 inches of rain in the past week. We finally had to cut grass after being idle for 2 months.

65 degrees today 100 miles west of you and .30" of rain so far today...That makes 1.75" since June 21st and its taken 7 rains to get this..Corn harvest is half over and the soybeans wont make much..

Talked to my nephew this morning; his beans are looking real good with lots of pods - except he said that the bean plants have pods all the way down to the ground, so he knows he won't be able to get all the pods when he harvests.

After a nice wet spring and summer showers, here in N. TX. it is August and we have had 2 over and inch rains already this month, last one last night, with the current state a Flood watch. Ha!

I'll take it and the 3rd cutting of hay it will bring. Sure beats the drought of last year.

Here in Missouri we are still behind by more then 15 inches for the year and that 1/4 inch or so we got yesterday helped but we sure do need a lot more

In 1979 I took off work 60 calendar days to build the house in which I currently live. I picked August as it is ALWAYS the driest month, and yes the hottest too.

I got it roughed in and before I could seal it, I got it rained on 3 times.....was not a happy camper.

One of my problems was that I had installed insulation bats between the floor joists. Well, you guessed it, the rain ran down and into the vapor barrier so I had a floor full of drooping bats full of water.

I had to crawl under the house on my back and take my knife and slit every one of the bats. Was not a happy camper.

Finished the house in 45 working days, including 3 days I recovered from throwing my back out putting on the roofing shingles; wife, 3 small kids, and 1 guy came over to help swing the 36' roof trusses. That is the only outside help we had. House was 36x40 pier and beam, frame. Good part was I did it for around $10k. Have since enlarged it but that is not part of the story.

When finished, only had 2 malfunctions: A bad light switch at the front door and a barely leaking interconnect between one of the brass shower assemblies and the PVC plumbing, both of which I fixed.

Last year was a disaster for us and the weather know-nots predicted the same for this year. Yea verily they missed it again, still keeping their jobs, and we did it without a hurricane. I am absolutely thrilled.

Best,
Mark
