what I did today (pics)

Put in a few waterways today. With the torrential rains we have had these last few years, some of these wash outs were getting close to 6 and 7 foot deep in places. I made a few rounds with the disc to smooth it down a bit. Then I got this great idea to use the plow to fill in the washouts, which surprisingly worked extremely well. After I plowed them shut, I hit them again with the disc to smooth them out, then I drove up and down them with the tractor and disc to pack it down. I plan to soon spread some fescue and sew wheat in them. I put a picture of our corn in this spot, which is pretty much pitiful. We got 4 tenths last night and 4 tenths about 3 weeks ago, and thats really the only rain we have had since early may, besides a tenth or two here and there. I guess we will harvest what little we can and hope for better luck next year.

Nice job...do you hire out? Looks like a 490 ih disc. I still have the 27' my uncle bought new in 1974. Finally retired it this year but may drag it back out as I don't like the krause I bought to replace it.

Put something on they to keep them from washing until the grass gets big enough. I usually put some corn stalks in the rear slinger manure spreader. I put some stock piled manure on top of the stalks in the spreader. The combination of the two helps hold the loose dirt and the manure helps the grass get started.

There aren"t any, only in the low spots and the bottoms is where there is any corn. Corn is disappearing around here pretty quick, being disced down and mowed off.
