Thank the Lord for his protection

2 1/2 year old granddaughter wanted to go play on her swing yesterday eve about 7 PM. I took her out there and she climbed up on the horse. Its kind of a glider deal that looks somewhat like a horse. After about a min she pulled her legs up and started swatting the air and said Paw paw there are spiders on me. That’s when I noticed she covered in a cloud of yellow jackets. I ran and grabbed her up and took off a running. About 3 mph in my case, with them all over us they were in her hair and all over our faces. After we got about 30 yards from them they left us alone but then attacked my old dog. They whelped her all over her face before she could get away from them. Long story made short me and the girl never got a sting. Thank you Lord.
PS The yellow jackets where inside her swing glider deal by the hundreds. They now sleep with the fishes.

God bless.

Children truly are a gift from God.
(at least till they turn into teenagers!)

She is too adorable.

I got stung on Saturday
and almost again today while weeding.

Absolutely a precious, beautiful little girl. So glad neither of you got stung... and especially the little one!

Other than being "saved" the one thing that made me want to be a better person was grandchildren. Beautiful girl, hold your head up a little higher hero. Hows the dog?

Cute kid.... I'm not ready to put my trust in his words, but an old beekeeper in town says that bees are animals too and know if you are meaning to hurt them or not and will defend themselves or flee accordingly.... He works his hives in flipflops or barefoot with a tight tanktop and something like speedos while talking and/or singing to them... No smoke or nets.... He's either right or retarded (the lord protects them too yaknow).......

How's the dog????

Ole Kimber is fine. They got her on the nose and face but 30 mins later she was back laying around wanting her belly scratched.

You're a hero! She'll remember that for the rest of her life. I still remember stirring up a wasps nest in an old car that I was playing in when I was about her age. They were inside the door and when I shut it they started stinging me. Couldn't get out because the inside door handle was gone. Older brother saved me. He can't remember it, but I can.

And yes - thank the Lord for his protection - every day! Beautiful grand-daughter!

Bees are one thing, wasps another. Never had a bee sting without cause. Wasps will sting without you bothering them. BTDT too many times.

I leave bees alone, but for me, its open season on wasps.

Glad it turned out ok for you all. I once was getting my old fishing boat out of a field full of grasshoppers. The grasshoppers were jumping everywhere in the tall grass as I walked up to the aluminum boat sitting on a trailer. The grass was belt high. When I got close to the boat one of those grasshoppers bit me on the arm. I stood there for a second thinking "MAN! I didn't think grasshoppers bit that bad" Turns out there was a paper wasp nest on the side of my boat trailer and I got too close and it stung me, but for a second I thought one of those thousands of grasshopppers had bitten me! LOL! My arm swelled up like I had 2 elbows!

You are lucky that your granddaughter doesn't react to bee stings. I would be rushing mine to the emergency room. My son carries something to give her a shot.

Wouldn't it be nice to have grand kids without having kids?

George

I know what you mean. My 18 year old grand daughter just got her license. She was driving yesterday, not paying attention, and ran through a red light. She said it shook her up. It should have. She told her parents, something I would have never done when I was that young. Glad for God's protection. Stan

Never forget the LORD can't take one breath without him. Try it. Hold yours and see what happens. Dave

Same thing happened to my oldest boy when he was just walking. He climbed up on a pile of cedar fence posts and disturbed a nest. Let a wail out of him. I took off running and grabbed him. Danged things got down in his diaper and everything. I don't even remember now how many times he got stung, but seems like it was twenty some odd. I got it three times trying to get his clothes stripped off and get them off him. Found out the hard way that he wasn't alergic.

Your grand daughter was darned lucky.

After accidentally running into a nest of hornets (lucky, only one sting) the thought crossed my mind, what would someone do if he was up on a radio or tv tower and did the same. You couldn't "run". Maybe they carry a can of wasp spray?

Always remember the lord helps those who help themselves! Your calm removal, of your grand-daughter, from the danger area was the act which saved her. The dog might have been sent, but I will let others debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin!

I used to get into Bee nests all the time here on the farm when I was not much bigger than her hurt for awhile but not a big deal bee stings still don't bother me much.
