OT Old Fire Truck Collectors?

I have a 1963 GMC 4000 Fire truck that is in really nice shape, with just over 8,000 original miles. It has a good running 305 V6 and a working 4+2 transmission and rear end. It came out of service in 2007, and has been stored inside since then. It is still fully equipped and the pump works. I've advertised it for sale locally but all I get are guys who want to strip it and use it for parts to fix up street rod trucks. I don't want that to happen to this engine. I don't have to sell it, but would kind of like to have more space in my shed as I don't really need this truck either. If I could get it into the hands of the right person/agency, I'd let it go if we could agree on a price. Can anyone advise me where to advertise this where fire truck collector folks could be made aware of it? I'm in Minnesota. Thanks

I googled Fire truck Collectors and found about 6 clubs, I'd try placing an add in their newsletter if they have one. Also go to Hemmings motor news and see if they have any clubs listed in their resources and information pages. Might try advertising in their magazine "Hemmings Motor News" they usually have a few fire trucks for sale in each issue, don't know who is buying them, look if any of the trucks for sale are by a specialty dealer that deals in collector fire equipment, used to be one in Loveleand Colorado but I haven't seen an add from them for a few years.

You might try Mr. Taylor at Taylor Machine Works in Louisville, MS. It has been several years since I have been there but he has a large collection of antique Fire Equipment.
If he does not want it I bet he knows someone that does.

What are you asking for it, got pics?? My email is open. Looking to put something on my farm, just as a safety measure. Been looking at some surplus 1 tons brush/rescue units, but nothing decent or decently priced....Ralph.

Aaron- you have my email.....how bout pix and a price? (does it come with freakin" bumblebees, like the RC did? Some of those bees even made it to their new home. I"d miss not having them with the truck!). Daughter"s ex-BIL has a NYC ladder truck in Hibbing, stored at the old Perpich chop stick factory.......I feel deprived.

Look around for local motocross tracks or dirt tracks for cars. They use water trucks all the time and would love to have a fire pump.

The LeSueur, MN. Antique Tractor Club has several fire trucks on dsplay. They mite be interested.

Thanks for all the replies. Lots of good information that I had not necessarily crossed my mind. I am hoping to find it a good new home soon.

you might also place an add in 'wheels of time' there is plenty of fire apparatus collectors in the american truck historical society, and those guys will keep the unit intact and fully functional

The way the weather's been going across most of the country you could probably sell it to somebody who could use it for irrigation purposes.

Jim,
Email is sent. I don't think there are any bees with this, but if it is what makes or breaks the deal, I can round some up somewhere and stick them in the glove box :)

About 6 weeks ago on a trip to Sturgess, SD on rte 90, I couldn't help but notice several fire trucks. They are off of the west bound lane side out near Wall, SD. Somebody out there restores them and sets them out along the Intersate. They are about 10 miles apart , so there is some method to it.
