They declare your county a disaster, you qualify for assistance, what does it amount to? Just low interest loans? Anyone know how theese things work? Just curious.

That's about it.

I believe it streamlines releasing CRP acres for hay harvest so there is less paperwork & waiting. That's a plus.

Years ago it also allowed for disaster payments - which would come down the road possibly later. But don't think they even passed a farm bill this congress, and not supposed to be any more disaster payments, so likely nothing from that these days.

Otherwise you are offered some loans that, if you can qualify for, you don't need.

We were having some tough fiancial times a few years ago. USDA had some low interest loans. My bank was still staying with me, but I asked about trying to get a low interest loan. Bank said they could make it happen, but would have to put me at a high risk, so that as going to hurt my credit rating. Didn't pursue it any further. Sounded like a lot of BS to get it done.

I wasn't sure what it really was. I never have looked into those things. I rent some ground and was curious if my landlords could apply to put up a pivot.
