Saw this JD pull tractor... had to post a pic.

This is just wrong on so many levels! And I'm not partial to JD, as we have Farmall and Case in addition to JD. We just couldn't do this to any ol' girl.

Pink has became popular and is associated with cancer awareness. Not my favorite color but a great cause. There is a saying pretty in pink. Was popular in the 50s.Mary Kay cars stick out like highway patrol cars.

Years back, a fellow I know had an unstyled A built for pulling. Painted it pink with white wheels and called it "Jane Deere". Mother Deere made him remove the name, said it was an infringement of their trademark. He finally returned it to green and yellow.

Saw a lavender and pink two-tone styled B at a Two Cylinder meet awhile back.

It was owned by the wife of a pretty big-time JD collector. Seems that she was pretty luke-warm to the whole JD thing, and to help her get interested, he proposed restoring one for her, with a few little touches- chrome exhaust stack, chrome the grill, custom seat, etc.

To his pleasant surprise, she got interested in the project. But unbeknownst to him, she made a deal with his tractor painter for the custom paint job. The painter told her he was not about to lose his best customer, so if papa insisted it be repainted, she had to agree to pay for it (which she agreed to).

I guess after the initial shock, the guy was bright enough to figure out that the goal was achieved, and now her cute little B goes to shows on his semi, with the rest of them. And he laughingly tells the story.

That's really funny! I can just imagine the shocked look on the husband's face... and the look of the Cheshire cat on the wife's face. Good it all worked out in the end. :)

Old Popper,

Maybe he should have called it JANE DEAR to get around them.

What kind of old popper do you have? We have a 1936 B JD. It used to be on steel, but husband put tires on it, so it doesn't tear up the lawn and gravel anymore. Though we both liked the look of steel wheels best.

larryanderson,

True, if it is pink for cancer... a very great cause. But I did not see any of those type ribbons painted on it - so I think it is pink just for the craziness of it. I'm just not a fan of the color pink - but they own it, so they get to decide.

There is a black two cylinder JD that stalks our parts down here in Mississippi and it barks loud and pulls stout. Paul

I have 2 "B" s- a '42 & '50, 2 "A" s a '40 and a 48, a "42 JD "H", a '47 "G" a '56 520, a '58 620, and a '57 720 diesel. Last but not least a '47 VAC Case.

ncpapaul,

Does the black JD have a name? Black, I would like better than pink... though a nice shade of chocolate rust is our favorite look for a tractor.
