My brother has a cat that just doesn't like dogs. Someone came into theyard walking her dog, and the cat attacked the dog. The lady got scratched up trying to seperate them. Hope she doesn't head to the lawyer in the morning. When I take my dog with me to the shop the cat tries to challenge my dog also. What makes a cat have this attitude toward dogs? Usually it is the other way around. The cat is also very small, but full grown. I could see my 22 lb cat doing this, but not this little sh--. Ever had a cat like this? stan

My brother has one that will attack people, you can hear it when you walk in his house and you have to try to watch where you walk and not get to close.

Many many years ago I had a cat that was sort of like that. It was a siemise (sp) cat and we lived in Atens TN at the time. Neighbor had to collies and one day they saw my cat and took off after her. she jumped up on a work bench in the car port and when one of the dogs ran under that bench she jumped on its head. It took off yipping all the way then did a roll over in the yard knocking the cat off. Then the cat took off after that dog and the other dog seeing its mate being chased by the cat took off yipping along with the first one. Neighbor saw this happening and fell down laughing so hard that he could not stay on his feet. His dogs never messed with my cat again

Back in the mid 70's I had a Irish setter female and she went everywhere with me. I was visiting a couple of young ladies in Mexico Missouri and let my dog run loose outside as the young ladies had a house full (two)cats that never went outside. I got to wondering about my dog and went outside to look for her. As I rounded the back of the house, I looked across at the neighbors back yard and there was a large house cat on a chain, backing up and putting some slack in the chain. I saw what I thought was the cat luring my dog into the ark of that chain so it could attack my dog. I called my dog back and am still convinced that the cat would have hurt my dog.

the cat has probably got a hard time from a dog and has learned to stand up for itself, we have one like that, when a kitten, she was continually hassled by the farm dogs, not hurt, they just wanted to play with her, then as she got older she got fed up with getting crap from dogs and learned what her teeth and claws were for, now she will attack any dog they invades her "space" as she sees it dogs still want to play but the cat dont put up with it and they quickly back off

Since I moved into my own place I've always owned dogs. Dad and Mom, on the other had have had both dogs, and cats, both together and seperately. The first cat and dog they had both got along just great. In fact it wasn't unusual for the cat to lay in the dog and go to sleep in front of the fireplace.

Some years later I had a dog and dad had maybe 8 or 10 cats that hung out around the shop. The dog got along with the majority of the cats but there were a fes that he liked to chase. The rest of them knew what they were doing and established with him really quick that they might be smaller than he was, but that they were the boss. He seemed to understand that situation quite well. In fact he once ran off and I got a call from the couple who's yard he wound up in. When I went to pick him up they said that initlally they were afraid he'd hurt their cats but that he actually played with them like no other dog they had ever seen......and was welcome back any time he decided to run off.

Until I had to start keeping my current dog on a run...due to running off....he never got schooled by the shop cats. He'd chase the and they'd run, and that was about the extent of it. Wether none of them ever stood up to him and showed him who was the boss, or wether he was just to dumb or stuborn to accept second fiddle in the dog and cat wars I don't know. Either way I know he'll still chase a cat any chance he gets.

Have a friend that has some barn cats. They have survived the coyotes and all so she thought they were pretty tough. Well, a couple times now she has had to pull her jack russell off them. In fact, one cat was pretty lucky as she was about to go shake and break on the cats neck when the jack russell got pulled off.

Our German Shepherd got along good with the our cats; on cold winter nights in the barn they would all sleep on top of him to stay warm.

But if a stray cat came to the farm, he'd kill it! He tangled with a stray tom once that was too much for him to handle. He kept looking at me like he wanted help, so I grabbed the shotgun and helped him out.

I grew up with a million cats and a million dogs.

They're all different.

Every now and then you get a cat that's psychotic with no apparent reason.

The worst was my mother's last cat who would attack just her grandkids. And I mean attack.

If a child walked into the room where that cat was, she'd rip their legs apart.

Not only that, the cat would stalk the kids. She'd go out of her way to find them and attack them.

All the kids got it at least once, some several times. (10 grand kids).

If it weren't for our mother's love of the cat - it would have been buried in the back yard in a heartbeat. But she loved that stupid thing. She'd always have to lock her up whenever the grand kids visited.

My mother passed away recently, so we gave the cat to a shelter - let them deal with it.

Yes I had such a cat. Weighed 12 lb and was afraid of nothing. When the door bell rang he was the first one there to check out the vistor and if he sensed something wrong fluffed up and hissed; ran off strange dogs and cats; hunted down the rabbits and mice in the yard. If we went for a walk he went too. When a new cat came to live with us established who was boss. With the new dog that took a little time but he did get the 30+ lb dog straight.
Finially died of old age at 18 years.

Meet Sour Puss. He hates cats, dogs and most people. He was the terror of my neighborhood until apparently one of my neighbors took his leg off with a BB gun. Some cats just have attitude like some people.

Our cat has our much larger dog buffaloed. Dog comes over, sniffing, wanting to paly - gets a nose full of slashing claws. Cat will actually charge the dog.

There is an old tom at the end of my street.Old and cranky and doesn't take crap from anything.Beat up my two dogs twice in one night.Every dog in the neighbor hood. Knows to stay away from him. He doesn't go out trying to fight. But if you come in his yard,he will show you who is the boss.

If she tries to sue you just say "what cat" "That cat dont belong to me" "if you want him you can have him"

Or you can try, "If you want to sue the cat and can catch him to take him to the court house, go ahead"

My mother in law has a cat that will attack any dog that she thinks is on her turf. Makes family gatherings a pain since a sister in law and brother in law both insist on bringing their dogs. Come to think of it the cat stays shut up when the niece is running around too.

Stan,My neigbours told me they watched a big raccoon come accross our lawn until our Tom cat stepped in..and chased the coon off,he also would go after a dog that came into the yard,on one occassion this dog came into our yard and went down our back stairway...Jake went down after the dog..I figured the cat for a gonner but there was a hell of a fight and the dog came tearing outta there with the cat right after him..Jake was a mean cat, around 24 pounds..he lived to be 23 years old,I buried him four years ago...the best cat I ever owned and I;ve had a bunch

Ive got a old black cat thats hung around here for years. i found her as a kitten when i was roto tilling the garden and she barely had her eyes open, never did figure out how she got there. my boy and his bunch was needing a place to stay until he found a place when he moved back from the east coast,so he stayed with us and they had a worthless dog. honestly, that cat disappeared and i never even saw her for over a year.they moved out a few weeks ago and picked up their dog,and the cat showed up on the front porch the evening that dog left. she must have been hiding somewhere around here but i never saw her,and how she knew that dog was gone I've never figured out.doesnt act in the least wild, like you would expect of one living on her own,but if my boys car pulls up in the yard she'll disappear until shes sure the dogs not with them.then she'll come out wanting the grandaughters to pet her.

Our neighbors had 3 cats and they would jump on a dog's back and would ride him with him howling.
Our dog tried to take them on and they went for his family jewels. He never messed with those cats again. One of those cats would come over for a visit and stayed all night at times. Our dog never went near him. Hal

We had a barn cat that had gone wild, it tore up my mothers legs and the dogs face one time when she accidentally ended up between it and the dog.

Looked like someone had butchered a chicken in that hallway, not sure what she did to get out of there, it was her favourite cat and dog.

The dog hated the cat from then on, sure he would have shook that thing to pieces!

We had a barn cat at the farm who was the friendliest guy you could imagine...but if a dog got near him it was game on. He opened up my buddies German Shepard to the tune of 32 stitches from the top of his noggin to the tip of his nose.

To this day that dog won't go near anything that looks remotely like a cat.

Pound for pound there is nothing meaner than a cat. That's why even a pack of wolves will go out of there way to avoid a mountain lion.

Yep that was the type of cat I owned that would go after a dog. She is buried next to a walnut tree I have here. That cat would also attack people if she believed they did not belong in my room as in if I was not in the room the cat would not let some one else in the room
