Thanks for sharing. Every picture I see of an old tractor in the weeds makes me wonder what it did in it's lifetime and what finally put it out of commission.

Always enjoy photos, thanks for sharing. You have a good eye for photography. I will echo RamblinMan's statement, a lot of us feel that way.

Nancy H.,
We also wonder the same thing. If they could talk, I bet we'd hear some great stories.

Phil,
Thanks very much!

If I ever do get around to doing something with photos, I will post here to let you know.

ShadetreeRet,

Thanks! Some collect barns, sheds and/or pastures full of stuff... photography is my way of "collecting". It is inexpensive and my collection does not take up a lot of space.

RamblinMan,
I always wonder about it too... also regarding old buildings. It is almost haunting, especially when you are at the location taking photos - but even later when viewing them, one just has to wonder. *Here is a photo of an old granary where we bought our Regular... I love old buildings just as much as old, rusted iron.

My husband owns his grandfather's 1936 Farmall F20. As he understands it, it basically got parked in the woods due to a flat tire. I think back in the day it was no longer worth very much and his grandpa just parked it rather than spend money on a tire... then put those dollars toward a different, newer tractor.

I see you're posting more dirty pictures. Just got back from finishing up with our farm fair and will post some pics here later. They're dirty, too---

Your picture of the old building just reminded me of something from my childhood. We had several parcels of rented land that were a mile or so apart where we had livestock. On each of these parcels were a few small barns, wood slat corn cribs and remnants of old farm equipment and such, all of which had been abandoned years before. I was about six years old and helped with the feeding. When done feeding, while my uncle counted heads I"d explore those buildings. Nobody seemed to care much about them so asking questions was useless. I later found early plat maps and discovered who most likely built the buildings and used the farm equipment. Got no farther than that after asking some of the descendants if they knew the history of the buildings and machinery. Fortunately, I have the history of my Grandpa"s 180 acre farm along with pictures and some audio tape recordings of an inteview with Grandpa.

Sweetfeet, in the third photo it looks like maybe that tractor is trying to tell us it might have been rolled over. Looking at the steering wheel and fender.

J. Wondergem,

I think you may be right. Hmmm, wonder if it took the driver out of commission?

RamblinMan,

Sorry for delayed reply, just found this.

That is a really neat memory. I was much like you, and spent all my spare time exploring stuff. Always have liked old things.

Also, nice that you have the history of your grandpa's place - but sure to pass it on down to the next generation.
