Weather Website OT

I like Intellicast, with the interactive page you can zoom right into your street and see the weather coming sooner with a 5 minute refresh on the radar screen.

Here is what I use. It seems to be quite accurate and not much of a time delay. Can zoom right in even on your farm and check it out. It allows you to track rain or snow, it will even project the path.

I've been using Weather Underground for the past few years to plan my outside work schedule for the past couple of years. never really used any of the other online sites before finding this one so I can't compare apples to apples, but so far they have been right on for my area probably 90% of the time....which is alot better than the local guys......
Weather Underground

Accuweather, the weather channel, WLNS out of Lansing, Mi and AndyP of WILX in Lansing. I take them all and make my own guess.

About 15 years ago when I first got internet we would get rain every few days. I would look at all the forecasts and the radar and make my own guess. If it looked like a 3-4 day dry window I'd mow in the rain as it was ending, get the hay up a few days later, and it would rain that night. If I listened to the forecasts I'd have not mowed all summer.

Gotta be careful in some areas. Where I'm at if I enter my ZIP the weather data comes out of the Twin Cities. If I put in the ZIP for a town 15 due west the forcasting comes out of Grand Forks and is much more accurate.

Use Weather Underground....sometimes if the radar is down I go to the Weather Channel. If I want the winds and cloud ceiling I go to the nearest airport Automated Weather Reporting Service (AWOS). Our nearest has both phone and computer access.

www.wunderground.com is the site I have been using for a long time. On the wundermap you can zoom in on storms at your address. The best IMHO.

I like the NOAA site also. They are trying to give the the true forecast and aren't influenced by advertisers or ad dollars.

Some areas, like the northeastern US are very difficult to forecast weather. If you don't think your're getting accurate forecasts, it could be because you live in a difficult to forecast area.

NOAA for me. Except I liked it the old way before they changed it a couple months ago. Now I keep thinking it's the easy reader version. The images and print are so big and I have to scroll to see everything that used to show up on the screen w/o scrolling before. Progress again I guess.
