Just went and got a new HP tower computer. 20 inch flat screen monitor,the works. Just gotta see if somebody can retreive my pictures and documents out of the old one.
At least my accounting records are backed up to June 7 so I only have to re enter six weeks of reciepts.

I thought that's how I looked now!
I got all the reciepts re entered. I think my pictures and documents are on the same flash drive that my accounting was on. My youngest put them on there. He can get them put back in for me. I had some on disc and got them back in,the wife has a bunch more on the camera card and said she's get them back in.

Well that's one way of fixin' it! :lol:
Maybe a bit pricey, but if you keep you're records on there you need it to be reliable.
Glad you're one of the few who keep backups!
Had a guy bring in his "business computer" with all of his company info on it. He had bought the cheapest home use Compaq sold at the time, and never made a backup.
Compaq had a recall on the failed hard drive, so they replaced the drive for free, but the data was up to him.
Some can be recovered easily, some can be recovered at great cost, others cannot be recovered.
His data was gone forever.

you can get a usb case from tigerdirect.com for your old hard drive if it is still good. just be sure the case is for that type of drive. was the old computer a laptop or a desktop? if it was a laptop then it has a 2.5 inch drive and a desktop has a 3.5 drive. then you need to know if it is sata or pata. pata(ide) has a flat ribbon cable attached and sata has a round cable. both have a power cable. I have a case for a 3.5 pata that I got when my old desktop got het by lightning. it did not hurt the drive. I retrieve everything I needed and then used the drive as a backup. good luck!
