o/t portable garage

I use about 4-5 all the time. Some are just the roof with poles and one is a $400 one from Menards, that a neighbor gave me when they moved. That one is a hut style and is about 10 years old. I did replace the tarp last year with a 24x20 flat tarp. It works well but nothing to brag about. -Holds snow well.
The others used to store tractors or other machinery work fine but in heavy 4-6" or more snow, I go out and knock the snow off when ever it builds up over 4" even if it is still snowing.
These aren't the cheap $79-$129 awnings but are a much better made for about $199-$250.
Some have been used for about ten years with the tarps changed about every 5 years. Just use an old broom to knock off the snow. I'm located in a wooded area otherwise wind can be a problem if walls are used. I put up walls during the winter on most sides.
Hope that helps-

Seen one set up at a guys place last year. After a wind storm his tractor was the only thing still there. The whole thing was blown out into his pasture. After that he just used the tarp to cover the tractor.

The 'WeatherPort' brand is the best in the business.A little pricey, but the covers are gauranteed 10 yrs, frames 20...I know,I worked for them for 10+ years, and did a lot of R/D stuff. The Salt Lake Olympic Super Store(100'x220') was alot of my design work.I would stay away from the cheap/bargain units, they only last a few short years and tend to be easy blownaway and collapsed.Btw,Clayton(Swede)Hansen invented/started the industry(portable tentioned fabric structures) in hi altitude Gunnison Co. in'68

Indiana state highway dept is using somekind
of system like that for their salt storage buildings.
They have concrete walls about half way up then
fabric walls and roof.

I wouldn't want a portable garage. With these hard times, there are too many people stealing things. Went to town and have had many things stolen out of the bed of my truck. I now use a cable and lock to protect the items in the back of my truck. It's a sad fact, people are hurting and stealing.

KNOCK ON WOOD, I've NEVER had anyone break in my locked tool boxes, locked garages or locked barns or locked house.

Better think long term and not put anything you want to keep under a carport or tent.

This is one that a friend gave me the frame when the tarp that coverd it wore out they make a nice 11'X20' building total cost for siding and used door $800.
