I have a Farmall A with a serial number of FAA 2146. The serial number plate is not on the seat bracket as I have been told it should be....it is on the front of the deck below the pedals. Can you tell me what year it was made? The serial number plate says it was made in Chicago.
Thanks in advance for your help.

AHAAAAA.....the starting serial number is the key.....made before 1940.....good thing I am not a detective....thanks guys.

Very early production like yours thats where they put the tag. You have a very early model with many features lots of people have never seen like the fastener on the bottom of the grille and center overflow on the radiator.

Actually, that plate does NOT say your tractor was made at Chicago; it merely gives the city that was the worldwide headquarters of International Harvester.

My trucks--a '51 and a '52 L-110 pickup--both say Chicago on the ID plate, but they were most likely built in one of IH's truck plants in Springfield OH, or Fort Wayne IN.

The A,AV,B,and BN were all built in Chicago till 47 then they were also built in Louisville. Louisville tractors started with serial#200,000
