Take a look at the radar!

Unbelievable! I'm too extatic for words. The rain's been training right over me since about 5:30am.

I didn't get more than a few hours sleep after what happened last night. Thunderstorm warnings in the county to the northwest,it died right out when it got here, then refired and there was a new warning in the next county over east. I spent the night stressed out to no end feeling like I'd been kicked in the gut. Missed us again! Layed there about 5 this morning, saw a few flashes of lightening, heard some thunder, figured it would follow the same path it's been following for the last two weeks, but the front sagged just far enough south to get some!
I was within HOURS of it being too late. Had some corn start trying to polinate yesterday. This should at least keep it going.

We are in the same boat as you are. Looks like a nice rain might be coming and it just peters out before it gets here. We've got some millet and corn that is continuing to hold on, but I don't know how. We keep saying, "If we could just get a little shower...", but the showers haven't been coming. Looked like yesterday was the day for us to get some moisture, but it didn't happen. Looked at the 10 day forecast. Over 100 everyday..............if we could just get a little shower.

It's bone dry here in MD. They're calling for severe storms tonight. I see the city of Muskegon in your link. We had a lot of Continental engines in military vehicles back in the 1950's & 60's. They even had one in the GM pilot model M1 Tank and Chrysler had the turbine in their pilot model in 1975. I flew up to Detroit to install instrumentation while the power packs were out of the vehicles. It was a wasted trip as they wouldn't allow any instrumentation to be installed. The airline I flew up on went on strike and I had to take a flight to DC then was bused to BWI airport near Baltimore. That was the last time I used my own vehicle to BWI when on travel I used a rental car after that. We knew before starting testing that Chrysler was going to get the contract. The turbine engine company hired a retired full colonel. Here's a pic of the heavy field dynamometer that we used on those vehicles. We ran full load drawbar and cooling tests on both of them using it . For the lower gears we used an M88 recovery vehicle connected to the last trailer with the rear of the M88 facing the rear of the last trailer. We used the forward gears of the 88 when we needed it by running a partial stall. When we ran a stall on both test vehicles we used the brakes on the M88 Recovery vehicle. We also measured full load fuel consumption. The fuel tanker truck had to be closeby when testing. It also had to be closeby when the M1A1 was put into production and fielded to the troops. Sure was nice to have job you loved and be able to work there 41 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground about 12 miles from me. That didn't include the 2 years I spent in the Army during the Korean War and my brother spent 4 years in the Air Force. I was rehired as a returning veteran when I was discharged and spent 6 years in the reserves. Hal

Still raining over here (and over you). Got about two inches in the 5gallon bucket in the back yard, as of early this morning, and several showers later, I"ll go look again, and take a measuring stick with me. WOOD radar looks like coming to an end soon - although there is a new bunch showing up across the pond, west of Green Bay, Oshkosh. Weather prognosticators speculate it"ll go south later today. Have several wagons with bundled oats, two loaded with baled hay - hope the tarps were effective. Going to want a couple sunny days to get the stuff dry.

Not a drop last night. It went through 10 miles north and east but was dieing out as it got this far south. These storms that come through as the sun goes down are killing any rain we get. The storms dissipate as the sun goes down

So where did this water come from? Looks like the same system from Dakota to Michigan. It developed over dry land. Outer space??????????? The 10 inches that hit Duluth came from outer space too.

That first wave gave us 4 tenths over by Ashley and the second one came through and gave us another 5 tenths so we ended up with 9 tenths last night. I was floored that it finally happened. It was like the Sahara desert over here for the last couple months. Makes a person nuts!I was watching those storms on the radar last night and I also thought they had petered out. Was so lucky to get that. And it's still cloudy and it feels pretty good.

Irony of it is,it usually dries up when it comes across Lake Michigan. We got lucky on this one.

Got a little maybe a couple of tenths last night. Than petered out then about 6:30AM or so got rain for about half the morning. Now hot and dry again. To late for it to do much good though. Beans were blossoming last week.
Corn for the most part is shot.

good for you. my crops are done and have to haul milk cows to the sale barn as soon as last years silage is gone. farm should be for sale by november

Got a brief shower today, but it didn't last long. The rain we had last week really saved our butts, but we can use some more. Last weeks rain has pollinated corn, so any moisture now will make ear fill. They're calling for more for the next couple of days. Maybe we'll get lucky for a change.
