49 8n neg ground

I have a 49 8n came to me running i was looking at it & seen that the battery is hooked up neg ground i also see it doesn't have a reg box and no wires to the gen any help were to go from here would-be helpful thanks

How many volt batt? Is it magneto or distributor? Dave

If you want it to be original - reconnect a 6v. battery pos. ground and use the factory style gen.and reg. If you're updating to 12v.- neg.ground is the way to go and use an alternator. I hope this helps.

Don.........while the 8N came from the factory, 6-volt positive (+) ground, many 8N"s have been converted to 12-volt NEGATIVE (-) ground for use with the Delco 10-SI alternator and built-in voltage regulator. Many times the converter guy removes the un-necessary squarecan voltage regulator under the oilpressure gauge. ........Dell, a 12V advocate for the right reasons, who knows 8-ways to convert to 12V and they all work the first time
