Wife pulled beets for canning and yesterday son & me hauled more poo for compost pile. Gonna increase the pile before fall. Sure makes garden grow. Good vegies are coming along and broccoli is still coming along.Had some for supper last night. Mellons are growing good and so is the corn ,if the coons don't figure out how to scale the electric fence. Pole Vaulting contest? LOL Regards LOU.

Lou;

I tried oplanting beets twice this summer and nothing came up. Maybe it was too hot? Beans are not yielding near as good as last year and I haven't seen a squash yet. I have three bee hives--they belong to someone else--about a 1000 feet away and I see bees in my pickle blossoms often. Potatoes, broccolli, cauliflower and pickles are about the only things doing well. Corn is setting ears so time will tell. I have two compost piles going ansd plan to incorporate this fall or next spring.

LOU from WI,

Beets look great. Can almost taste home canned beets and beet pickles just from seeing them.

Sweetfeets. Beats are good pickled so the winter months ahead becomes more tolerable as time goes on.She still has several quarts left from last year. They won't last.lol.
Thanks for the reply, Lou.

fergienewbee We had to water the garden almost every evening for the past two weeks. So darned dry. Will re-plentish compost in the spring before we till the ground. Sounds like maybe your beet seed was bad. Keep on trying . Best wishes ,Regards LOU.
