My Lumina has some slack in the rack and pionion steering that has gotten worse over the years. I found rebuilt units at Rockauto.com for a decent price and am wondering how difficult are they to replace?

Pay someone to do it if you need to. My '97 Lumina is headed to 310,000 miles with no major problems. Just keep doing required maintenance and it'll keep on going. I'd buy a life time supply of them if they still made them.

neighbor doing rack and pinion. Had to buy acetylene torch set. Some p/s hoses cost over 400 bucks now. Dave

I would also buy a lifetime supply of them, great all around car, sad they quit making them. Looked at a 98 the other day that had 80k miles on it. Body looked good, but drove and ran bad. Had to pass, they wanted too much money.
