re: O.T. Bumble Bees

Just Another Old Geezer :1 Bumble Bees: 0. Worked just about as I thought it would. Waited until dark and Poured 10 gallons of very hot water down into where they were coming out of . Apparently gave them a relaxing warm saturday night bath and inproved their disposition. We spent an hour removing the needed parts. Including using a hammer and pry bar, and they never so much as buzzed at us.

We went to take a ladder type tree stand down yesterday for my cousin so he could take it home and work on it , new paint and seat etc. In a little tree about 5 ft. away and seat level was a hornets nest that look as big as a 5 gal. bucket . That tree stand will be just fine where it is at for now !! The stand is a 20 footer so if a guy go s by the hight of there nest it is going to be a bad winter , we will catchup on moister this winter !!

Probably not legal anymore, but 100 years ago when i went to a little old school house in the middle of nowhere, when we would get a red ant bed or bumble bee nest out in the yard somewhere the old teacher would wait till dark and take a pint jar about half full of coal oil and invert it over the hole. Coal oil would run down the hole and seep into the ground. Next day he would set it on fire. Never did know wheather it was the coal oil or fire that killed them ,but they never came back.
