spring water holding tank leaking

i have a spring water holding tank made of concrete blocks that have some sort of inside sealer painted on them to keep the water in .it has has a crack about midway up letting water seep out slowly.they now make a plastic liner like a swimming pool liner that should seal it up.on the other hand do they make a good brush on type sealer that would seal it up really tight .i am just trying to get some tips here from you guys.
thanks RICK.

I have a concrete tank that I water the cattle in a small lot. It had a small crack/seep on the one side three years ago. I tried tar concrete sealer and a couple of other things and they did not work very well. I finally sand blasted the surface to rough it up and used a gallon of pickup bed liner/sealer on the inside of the tank. It has held great for three years and still looks good.

How about some hydraulic cement? Can be used on a wet surface, they even say it will work underwater but I've never tried it. Available at Lowes / Home Depot in small plastic pail, not very expensive.

JD I was thinking of using that stuff on an ancient old horizontal 1500 gallon ply tank I use for watering trees. So far the best thing I've found is plain old silicone window caulk that I smear around on cracks after I rough sand them. I've used bed liner once on something else and boy did it stick! The instructions warned to not get it on anything you don't want it on because you won't get it off and they were right. Only problem is I have to crawl down inside the tank and those fumes are deadly. Jim

should be able to use just about any good concrete sealer if you could get it dry i would think, dad would use roof sealer.years ago we had a concrete horse tank,it started leaking right around bottom outer edge .we just laid a plastic tarp down in it like a liner.it lasted a long time, until we got a tractor there big enough to drag it out of the way.
